What is Up With People?

I get SO. many. questions. when I tell people I'm going on tour! This is one of the biggest. "What even is it?" It's actually so much more epic than it may seem! UWP has three imaginary pillars: travel, performance, and community action.

To begin... TRAVEL! Each tour is a 5-month program. In that 5 months, the cast travels to 15+ countries internationally. BUT WAIT - there's more! We stay in these areas for a week at a time, and while there, we stay in volunteer host homes with host families in that area. We are fully immersed in the culture of the area just by being there, but we get to really soak in the tradition and lifestyle of those areas through bonding with our host families and hearing their stories. I've always wanted to travel and UWP is the perfect way to do it!

Secondly, performance. This one is relatively self-explanatory - especially if you know me :) I've been doing all kinds of performance for most of my life. From singing to acting to playing, the stage is my favorite place to be. I'll get to perform with my new life-long friends spreading an amazing message to audiences all over the world. HOW COOL!!!!!!!!

Finally, community action. I've always had a strong passion for helping others. This has been pertinent for me through my experience with National Charity League, serving with my church, and multiple leadership positions in different school clubs and jobs. In UWP, we do miscellaneous volunteer projects around the area we're staying in for the first 3-4 days of our stay. We help in whatever way we can - painting buildings, making care packages for homeless families, building small homes, etc. We really leave an impact on wherever we are, and when we're done, we encourage our host families to get involved in their communities to continue spreading good and helping each other!

The lasting impact on the areas we visit is priceless, but even more priceless is the betterment and internal change each individual experiences. I can't even begin to understand the change I'm about to go through, but I'm so ready for it whatever it may be! Thank you all or your support and love in this wild journey!

You are loved <3
